  • An active subscription to ClearEdge Automation.

  • A compatible device (Windows or Mac).

  3. Add any broker/exchanges that you currently have accounts with or want to open an account with. You can have multiple brokers simultaneously.

  4. When logging in to your broker, the first time, locate the padlock icon in the software interface (next to start Automation Agent).

  5. Click the padlock to enter your broker account credentials:

    • Input your username and password for your broker account.

    • Save the credentials to allow the software to remember them for future logins.

  6. After saving, the software will automatically log you into your broker account when you start the Automation Agents.

  7. If you have multiple broker accounts, you can connect them simultaneously:

    • Each account will open in a separate window within the software.

  8. To start or stop Automation :

    • Click Start Automation (button in top right of your broker page, will appear red when off) to connect to your broker account(s).

    • Click Stop Automation (button will appear green when on) to log out without needing to re-enter credentials on the next login.

Step 6: Set Up TradingView Alerts for Automated Trading

  1. Open TradingView:

    • Log in to TradingView and open a chart (e.g., ES 5-minute chart for S&P 500 futures).

  2. Load a Trading Strategy:

    • Use a custom PineScript strategy, either your own, 3rd party or one of the included strategies with advanced and elite memberships.

    • Apply the strategy to your chart to generate buy/sell signals, take-profit, and stop-loss alerts.

  3. Configure ClearEdge Automation for the Strategy:

    • In the ClearEdge Automation software, click the signals icon on the left (directly above the "+" icon)

    • Select the "New Signal" icon

    • Name your Signal and Select if it is a Strategy or Indicator and write a description for the signal you are creating (e.g. Opening Range Long Only or Initial Balance MNQ) click "Save"

    • The next screen has your "Endpoint URL" (this must be copied and pasted into the "Webhook URL" section of your Alert in TradingView) and your "Message Payload" (this must be copied and pasted into your "message" section of your Tradingview Alert)

    • You only need one alert set up on TradingView even if you are sending the same alert to multiple accounts. We will discuss creating an alert in TradingView in the next section

    • To add a new broker account, click the + icon on the left of your screen and click "add a new strategy" in the bottom right. you will be able to select from a dropdown menu of the signals you created previously in the signal tab. Refresh to fetch the updated account list if your account is not populating in the accounts tab.

    • Select the contract (e.g., ES) and specify the "multiplier" (default should ALWAYS be set to 1). If you are using Tradeovate or NinjaTrader you will have to Type in the contract name exactly as it appears on your broker (e.g. ESZ5 , caps lock DOES matter)

    • Turn on your signal with Red Toggle Button (if it is green it is already on)

    • Test a Buy and Sell (these will be real orders, make sure you do not leave the order open!)
Now you know your broker connection is complete if you got a buy and a sell to trigger.

  4. Create a TradingView Alert:

    • In TradingView, ensure you’re on the correct chart (e.g., ES 5-minute).

    • Open the Alerts tab and delete any existing alerts to start fresh.

    • Click Create Alert.

    • Set the Condition to your chosen strategy (the name of the strategy)

    • In the Message field, delete the default text and paste the message copied from ClearEdge Automation.

    • In the Notifications tab, enable the Webhook URL option.

    • Paste the webhook URL from your ClearEdge software into the webhook field in the notification tab on your tradingview alert. Make sure the box next to that alert is also checked.

    • Click Create to activate the alert.

    • Optionally, Pause the alert during after-hours trading (e.g., outside regular market hours like 5:30 PM Eastern) to avoid unintended trades and during any known potentially volatile news events.

  5. Test the Setup:

    • In ClearEdge Automation, click Start Automation Agents to activate.

    • Ensure the TradingView chart is open and the alert is active (not paused).

    • To test connectivity, go to the Test Menu in ClearEdge Automation and trigger a buy or sell signal:

      • Use a micro contract (e.g., MES for micro E-mini S&P 500 futures) for testing to minimize risk.

      • Note that during after-hours (e.g., 5:30 PM Eastern), test orders may be rejected by the broker with an "Order Rejected" message.

    • Verify that the software receives alerts from TradingView and executes trades (or rejects them during after-hours).

    • Monitor execution speeds and confirm order filled/rejected confirmations in the software.

  6. Manage Alerts:

    • In TradingView, you can Pause, Edit, or Delete the alert as needed.

    • Restart the alert manually during regular market hours to resume trading.

    • Ensure the Automation Agent is active and the TradingView chart is open for alerts to trigger trades.

Step 7: Manage Multiple Automation Agents and Settings

  1. Running Multiple Automation Agents:

    • The default ClearEdge Automation membership allows up to 8 Automation Agents to run simultaneously.

    • Once you have set up an alert you can run that alert by simply setting up a new signal by hitting "Add a new strategy" on the selected broker and then selecting your signal you created from the dropdown

    • In TradingView, Only run 1 strategy per tab, for example do not run all your automations in 1 tab or window if on a browser.

    • You can add multiple settings for different strategies, timeframes (e.g., overnight or regular trading hours) etc.

    • If you are simply looking to run the same strategy on multiple accounts you will only need to create one alert and then select it for whatever accounts you so choose.

    • You can run Automation Agents across multiple brokers, as long as the total does not exceed the number of bots purchased in your subscription.

    • If you attempt to run more than the amount of Automation Agents allotted in your subscription, you will receive an error message indicating you’ve exceeded your license limit.

    • You can create unlimited strategy settings but only activate the amount of Automation Agents allotted in your subscription at a time.

    • If you need more than your current subscription please contact us or upgrade your subscription to the amount of Automation Agents you need.

  2. Managing Settings:

    • Settings are saved automatically, so you don’t need to reconfigure them after logging out.

    • To delete a setting, navigate to the settings menu and remove the unwanted configuration.

    • Experiment with different strategies, timeframes, or parameters (e.g., contract size, profit targets, stop-loss, trailing stops) to optimize performance.

  3. Monitoring Automation Agents:

    • Check the Home tab in ClearEdge Automation to view all active brokers and Automation Agents.

    • Ensure each Automation Agent is active (indicated by a green status).

    • Review the Log section to confirm that TradingView alerts are being sent and received by the software.

    • Verify that the webhook URL and message in TradingView match the ClearEdge Automation settings.

    • In the top left of your software you will see a "status light symbol". If your software is connected to our servers it will be green. If it is red please restart the software and check your internet connection.

Step 8: Best Practices and Maintenance

  1. Daily Maintenance:

    • Log Out and Restart: At the end of each trading day, log out of ClearEdge Automation (via the account menu) and restart the software to ensure optimal performance.

    • Clear TradingView Cache: In TradingView, go to App Settings, select Clear Cache, and reload the tab to prevent data delays or alert issues.

    • Reload Strategy: Remove and reload your TradingView indicator/strategy daily to ensure it runs smoothly.

    • Check Alerts: Verify that TradingView alerts are active (not paused) and that the webhook URL and message are correct.

  2. Risk Management:

    • Use a paper trading or trial account for backtesting and forward testing strategies before trading live.

    • Set global risk settings through your broker, such as a maximum daily drawdown, to protect your account from significant losses.

    • Monitor execution speeds and slippage, especially for scalping strategies, as performance may vary based on broker execution.

    • Avoid using “bracket” orders as if it hits your automated strategy could reverse its position or create multiple orders.

  3. Semi-Automated Trading:

    • If manually exiting trades, pause the TradingView alert before flattening a position to prevent unintended trades (e.g., an exit signal triggering a new short position after closing a long).

    • Wait for the exit signal to process, then restart the alert to resume automated trading.

    • Alternatively, let the automation handle entries and exits for a fully automated experience.

  4. Monitoring and Logs:

    • Regularly check the System Log in ClearEdge Automation for any issues (e.g., alerts not triggering or broker connection errors).

    • If an alert fires in TradingView but no trade is executed, verify:

      • The Automation Agents is active (green status).

      • The TradingView alert is turned on.

      • The webhook URL and message match ClearEdge Automation settings.

      • The broker account is properly connected.

    • Send the system log to ClearEdge Automation support if issues persist.

  5. Performance Tracking:

    • Monitor trade performance in the broker’s platform and ClearEdge Automation logs.

    • Note that performance may vary due to execution speed and slippage, particularly for scalping strategies.

    • Review the list of trades in the broker platform to confirm execution accuracy.

Step 9: Additional Notes

  • Multiple Brokers: You can log into multiple brokers simultaneously and run different Automation Agents for each, up to license limit.

  • Customization: Adjust strategy parameters (e.g., number of contracts, profit targets, stop-loss, trailing stops) to optimize performance for your trading style.

  • Support: For any questions or issues, refer to the ClearEdge Automation FAQ section or contact support directly.

  • Unsupervised Usage: Unsupervised usage is not advised per ClearEdge Automations “Terms of Service”. Make sure you are supervising all automation activity and using appropriate risk management.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Download Issues: Ensure a stable internet connection and sufficient storage space.

  • Security Warnings: Verify that you’ve selected Keep or Run Anyway for Windows or authorized the app in macOS Privacy & Security settings.

  • Login Errors: Confirm you’re using the correct account credentials for both your ClearEdge Automation subscription and broker accounts.

  • Mac Compatibility: Ensure you’ve downloaded the correct version for your Mac’s chip (Apple or Intel).

  • Alert Issues: If TradingView alerts are not triggering trades, verify the Automation Agents is active, the alert is turned on, and the webhook URL and message are correct.

  • Bracket Orders: Bracket orders can create a negative feedback loop on your strategy. Avoid using them. Instead set your risk parameters to liquidate positions that exceed your risk profile.
