Daily Maintenance:
Log Out and Restart: At the end of each trading day, log out of ClearEdge Automation (via the account menu) and restart the software to ensure optimal performance.
Clear TradingView Cache: In TradingView, go to App Settings, select Clear Cache, and reload the tab to prevent data delays or alert issues.
Reload Strategy: Remove and reload your TradingView indicator/strategy daily to ensure it runs smoothly.
Check Alerts: Verify that TradingView alerts are active (not paused) and that the webhook URL and message are correct.
Risk Management:
Use a paper trading or trial account for backtesting and forward testing strategies before trading live.
Set global risk settings through your broker, such as a maximum daily drawdown, to protect your account from significant losses.
Monitor execution speeds and slippage, especially for scalping strategies, as performance may vary based on broker execution.
Avoid using “bracket” orders as if it hits your automated strategy could reverse its position or create multiple orders.
Semi-Automated Trading:
If manually exiting trades, pause the TradingView alert before flattening a position to prevent unintended trades (e.g., an exit signal triggering a new short position after closing a long).
Wait for the exit signal to process, then restart the alert to resume automated trading.
Alternatively, let the automation handle entries and exits for a fully automated experience.
Monitoring and Logs:
Regularly check the System Log in ClearEdge Automation for any issues (e.g., alerts not triggering or broker connection errors).
If an alert fires in TradingView but no trade is executed, verify:
The Automation Agents is active (green status).
The TradingView alert is turned on.
The webhook URL and message match ClearEdge Automation settings.
The broker account is properly connected.
Send the system log to ClearEdge Automation support if issues persist.
Performance Tracking:
Monitor trade performance in the broker’s platform and ClearEdge Automation logs.
Note that performance may vary due to execution speed and slippage, particularly for scalping strategies.
