Starting Up and Connecting to Your VPS

How to start, stop, reboot, and connect to your ClearEdge VPS from the VPS Instances page.

Written by Dan

Once your VPS has been purchased, you manage it from the VPS Instances page. To get there, click VPS Instances in the left-hand menu. Each server you own appears as its own card.

What each instance card shows

At the top of every card you'll see the server name, its current status (such as "running"), the operating system and specs (vCPU, RAM, and disk), the region it runs in, and its IP address with a Static IP badge. Below that are live graphs for CPU, memory, disk, and network usage, so you can see how your server is performing at a glance.

Connecting to your server

There are two ways to connect:

Open in Browser - Launches a remote session to your server right inside your web browser. This is the quickest option and requires nothing to install. For Windows servers, browser connections sign you in automatically.

Remote Desktop - Connects using a remote desktop app on your own computer (for example, Windows Remote Desktop). Use the login credentials described below.

Finding your login credentials

Click the Administrator / Password button (it shows your login username) to open the Login Credentials window. Here you can view your username, reveal or copy your password, change your password, or forget the stored password. Keep these details private - anyone with them can access your server.

Starting, stopping, and rebooting

Use the buttons on each card to control the server:

Stop - Shuts the server down. A stopped server is not running your automation, so only stop it when you intend to pause.

Reboot - Restarts the server. This is useful if the server becomes unresponsive or after certain updates.

Starting back up - If a server has been stopped, use the start control on its card to power it back on. Give it a moment to boot, and the status will return to "running."

Other options

Upgrade / Downgrade - Move your server to a larger or smaller plan when your needs change.

Enable Support Access - Temporarily grants the ClearEdge team access to help troubleshoot an issue.

Terminate - Permanently removes the server. Use this with care, as it cannot be undone.

Tip: For your automation to run 24/7, leave your VPS running. You only need to stop or reboot it for maintenance or troubleshooting.
