Optimizing VPS Performance When Running Multiple Brokers

How to reduce high CPU usage and keep your VPS running smoothly when running several brokers at once.

Written by Dan

Running several brokers at the same time on one VPS uses more processing power, which can push your CPU usage high and slow things down. ClearEdge includes a built-in VPS Optimization feature that frees up resources so your automation runs more smoothly.

Turn on VPS Optimization

Make sure VPS Optimization is turned on inside the ClearEdge software:

  1. Click the gear icon in the bottom-left corner of the ClearEdge software.

  2. Open the VPS Optimization tab.

  3. Click the Optimize button.

  4. Restart the software so the changes take effect.

Once optimized and restarted, the software trims unnecessary background activity, which helps lower CPU usage when you're running multiple brokers.

Still seeing high CPU usage?

If your CPU stays high after optimizing, consider the following:

Check how many brokers you're running. The more brokers active at once, the more resources are needed. If you're consistently near your limit, your server may simply need more power. Remember charts and DOM take up more space so utilizing all the VPS optimization options will reduce the impact of that

Reboot your server. A quick reboot from the VPS Instances page can clear things up if the server has been running for a long time. Rebooting is very fast (usually under 2 mins) and all your settings will save. Only thing that will cause your settings to be removed is terminating the instance and restarting (will also change your IP) or upgrading to or from Windows to Linux or Linux to Windows.

Upgrade your plan. If you regularly run 3-4 brokers or more, a larger VPS (or a higher-frequency option) gives you more CPU headroom. You can change plans using Upgrade / Downgrade on the VPS Instances page.

Tip: Keep an eye on the live CPU, memory, and disk graphs on each instance card so you can spot when a server is being pushed to its limits.

Savings tip: try out our Linux VPS they are more affordable and much faster machines! This can allow you to run more brokers for less of a financial burden.
